A murder investigation has been launched following the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in Greenwich on Sunday evening. Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, in charge of policing for the borough, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and has called for public assistance in finding those responsible.

Police were called at approximately 18:35 on Sunday, 22 September, to reports of a disturbance on Eglinton Road, SE18, in the Woolwich area. Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene, where they found the teenage boy with a stab wound. Despite their best efforts, the boy tragically died a short time later.

The boy’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police. Detective Chief Superintendent Lawry said:
Once again we have had to tell a child’s family that their loved one has been killed in an act of violence using a knife. Our thoughts are with them as they struggle to comprehend what has happened.”
