Nearly 19,000 youngsters across Surrey are cashing in on 50% off bus travel with the popular SurreyLINK’ card. Since its launch in 2023, the card has racked up a staggering one million discounted journeys.

The scheme offers half-price fares on all single and return bus journeys county-wide. It’s especially popular with students heading to colleges and universities, clocking an impressive 100,000 trips every month.

Council Pumps £50m Into Greener, Faster Buses

Matt Furniss, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Infrastructure and Growth, said:

“I’m delighted our half-price travel scheme is proving so popular. Cost can be a huge barrier to public transport, so this discount helps make buses a realistic option and cuts traffic on our roads.”

The council is backing buses big time. Plans include £32.3m for ultra-low and zero-emission buses, £6.3m for eco-friendly community minibuses, £9m for bus priority measures to keep services punctual, and £1.4m to improve passenger info at stops.
