A community celebration in Vancouver has turned into tragedy after a driver crashed into a crowd during the Lapu Lapu Festival, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports that a vehicle had driven into festival-goers. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon during the popular cultural event, which celebrates Filipino heritage and draws thousands of attendees each year.

Authorities have confirmed that several people have been killed, with many others sustaining injuries of varying severity. First responders, including paramedics, firefighters, and Vancouver Police, worked to treat victims and secure the area.
The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. Investigators have not yet confirmed whether the act was intentional or accidental, but a full investigation is underway.
In a statement, Vancouver Police said:

Witnesses described scenes of panic and devastation as the vehicle entered the pedestrian area. One festival attendee told local reporters:
