Around 70 staff members and patients were safely evacuated after a fire broke out in a hospital building on Winsland Street, Paddington earlier today.

Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters were dispatched to the scene after the London Fire Brigade’s Control Officers received eight emergency calls about the blaze.

Crews from Paddington, North Kensington, Euston, and surrounding fire stations quickly responded.
Fire in Hospital Store Room
Firefighters battled a fire located in a store room on the ground floor of the building. Although smoke had gathered in parts of the hospital, no injuries have been reported.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed:
“Firefighters tackled a fire in a store room on the ground floor. Around 70 members of staff and patients were evacuated as a precaution due to smoke gathering in the building.”
The fire was brought under control at 12:36pm.

Investigation Underway
The Brigade’s Fire Investigation Team will now work to determine the cause of the blaze.
Emergency services were praised for their swift response, which ensured the safe evacuation of all individuals in the affected hospital areas.

The incident caused some traffic disruption around Winsland Street and the wider Paddington area, but normal operations are gradually resuming.
