Ryan Gibbs, of no fixed address, stole a variety of items, including paint, shoes, and fragrance bottles, with a total value of £579. The thefts took place between 2 September and 9 September from three retailers: The Range, New Look, and Boots.
Gibbs appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on 17 September, where he pleaded guilty to four counts of theft from a shop. In addition to the theft charges, he also admitted to two counts of possessing Class A drugs.
As a result of these offences, Gibbs was handed a 14-week prison sentence.
Police Sergeant Rob Tiller, from the Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing Team, emphasised the harm caused by Gibbs’ actions to local businesses.
Ryan Gibbs stole more than £550 worth of items from shops in Aldershot,” said Sergeant Tiller. His actions have had a huge impact on businesses in our area, and I hope this result makes it clear that this behaviour will not be tolerated.
Sergeant Tiller added that Gibbs’ sentencing should serve as a warning to others engaging in criminal activity, as the local police continue to crack down on theft and drug-related offences in the Aldershot area.
