The West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) continues its efforts at Lodge Farm Reservoir, Highbridge Road, Netherton, following an emergency involving a teenage boy reported to be in the water since the previous evening.
Responding swiftly to a distress call received from the police at 6:11 PM on July 23, 2024, WMAS deployed significant resources including three ambulances, two paramedic officers, and specialists from the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). The teams arrived at the scene within nine minutes of the call.
According to a spokeswoman from WMAS, “HART paramedics were immediately deployed into the water to assist other emergency services in the search operations.” The operation continued through the night with paramedics and an incident commander working in coordination with the police and fire services.
In addition to the search efforts, ambulance crews provided necessary medical attention to a bystander, a young girl with an underlying health condition, who was subsequently discharged at the scene.
WMAS has requested the public to avoid the area to ensure that the emergency teams can operate effectively. They expressed gratitude towards the community for their cooperation and stated, “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the teenage boy at this distressing time.
