A man has been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Mitcham, South London.
Tragic Incident in Maple Close
At around 7.30pm on Monday, 28 April, Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service crews were called to an address in Maple Close, Mitcham.
A 39-year-old man was found suffering from stab injuries. Despite emergency treatment at the scene and being rushed to hospital, he sadly died.
His next of kin have been informed, and formal identification procedures are ongoing.
Arrest Made
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after attending a south London police station on Tuesday afternoon (29 April). He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Increased Police Patrols in Mitcham
In response to the fatal incident, patrols have been stepped up across Mitcham to provide reassurance to the local community.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, from Specialist Crime South, who is leading the investigation, said:
“The victim’s loved ones are being supported by specially trained officers. They have our deepest sympathies following this terrible loss.

Appeal for Witnesses
Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with dashcam footage, CCTV, or any information that may assist the investigation to come forward immediately.
