A 44-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious assault on Quay Street, Fareham, that took place on Monday, September 23.

At approximately 11 a.m., a 32-year-old man was attacked in the street, suffering stab wounds to his back. He sought refuge at the nearby Fareham Police Station, where he received initial medical treatment. The victim was later transported to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Steven Colin Hardy, 44, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene, and a knife was recovered by police. Following an investigation, Hardy has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a knife in a public place, and possession of cannabis.

Hardy was remanded in custody and appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 24, where he was further remanded to appear again on Monday, October 28.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
