Arrogant Man Hides Knife on Train – Then Taunts Police Online

Kabelo Monyebudi, 30, from england/east-grinstead/”>england/east-grinstead/”>East Grinstead, tried to be clever. He hid a knife in a bin on a train at redhillscotland/”>scotland/”>redhill/”>Redhill station and filmed himself retrieving it. Posting the clip on TikTok, he smugly boasted: “got to be one step ahead of the boys in blue.”

His cocky stunt backfired. Just two Weeksweeks later, police spotted Monyebudi again in Redhill. He tried to ditch the same distinctive knife in a hedge and make a Quickquick escape. That failed spectacularly and he was arrested for carrying a bladed article in public.

Sentenced for Two Offences – Dangerous Knife Destroyed

The TikTok brag was his undoing. Thanks to the unique knife and his own video, police connected him to both offences. He pleaded guilty at guildford/”>guildford-wales/”>Guildford Crown Court on 10 September to two counts of carrying a bladed weapon. Monyebudi received a six-month suspended sentence, suspended for 18 months, plus a rehabilitation order. The dangerous knife was destroyed.

PC Oliver Dujardin of the Reigate & Banstead Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Monyebudi’s arrogance and blatant disregard for the law led to his swift arrest, charges, and court appearance.”

“Knife crime ruins lives and anyone carrying one spreads fear in our communities.”

“Those carrying knives falsely believe they are safer. In truth, they are far more likely to fall victim themselves.”

“This case shows we take knife offences seriously. Carry a knife and we will pursue you relentlessly.”
