Firefighters have extinguished a large scrapyard blaze in Rochester overnight.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 10:35pm on Tuesday (12 August) to reports of a fire at a scrapyard on Street Record, Medway. Six fire engines and a bulk water carrier attended the scene.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus used high-pressure hose reel jets and main jets to bring the fire under control, with operations concluding shortly after 12:30am on Wednesday.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is believed to be linked to a vehicle battery.
