The Incident

Upon arrival, authorities discovered Mr. Seita Tanabe, a 27-year-old Japanese national, suffering from a critical stab wound to the chest. Rescue workers administered first aid and performed CPR before rushing him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The other individual involved, identified only as Mr. David, a 36-year-old British-Thai man, was found at the scene with visible injuries, including a swollen face, body scratches, and a torn shirt. Police reported that he appeared heavily intoxicated.

A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered at the scene as evidence.

Eyewitness Account

An eyewitness, identified as Mr. Bank, stated that the confrontation began when Mr. David was seen arguing with a foreign woman, believed to be his girlfriend. Mr. Seita and Mr. Bank intervened to de-escalate the situation. However, Mr. David reportedly became aggressive, punching Mr. Seita in the face.

In retaliation, Mr. Seita struck back, escalating the conflict further. Witnesses said Mr. David then drew a knife and stabbed Mr. Seita in the chest, causing him to collapse.

Aftermath

Mr. David was detained by police at the scene, where witnesses noted his lack of remorse. He reportedly made a mocking “I love you” gesture to officers and was seen smirking as he was taken into custody.

The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment of a dislocated shoulder sustained during the altercation. However, tensions flared when the victim’s girlfriend and a group of his friends confronted Mr. David at the hospital. Police intervened to prevent further violence and relocated the suspect to a police station for his safety.

Ongoing Investigation

Pattaya police are continuing their investigation into the incident, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence. Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the argument involving Mr. David and the unidentified foreign woman, as well as the events leading up to the stabbing.
