The Incident

The terrifying ordeal occurred on Monday, 4 December 2023. Eleto arrived at the victim’s flat in Wandsworth, initiating a conversation on the doorstep. He convinced the woman to remove the door chain under the pretense of talking properly. Once inside, he forced his way through and began stabbing her.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, fled further into the property, but Eleto chased and continued his attack. When the victim’s mother, in her 60s, intervened, Eleto turned on her, attempting to stab her in the head and wounding her in the armpit.

He then returned to the younger woman, stabbing her in the face, arms, and neck. The two women managed to barricade themselves and a six-month-old baby in a bedroom, screaming for help through a window.

Despite their efforts, Eleto broke through the barricade, threatening, “everyone in the room is going to die.” After pleas for their lives and the baby’s safety, Eleto eventually left the flat.

Police Response

Police officers arrived quickly at the scene, confronting Eleto in the lift. Covered in blood and still holding the knife, Eleto refused to drop the weapon and began stabbing himself. Officers used incapacitant spray and a Taser to disarm and arrest him.

Inside the property, officers found the two victims with severe injuries. The victim in her 30s suffered deep cuts to her face, arms, and neck, while her mother had cuts to her arms. Both women received immediate first aid and were taken to the hospital. The baby was unharmed.

Court and Sentencing

Eleto was charged and remanded in custody. He appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Monday, 16 December 2024, where he was sentenced to:

  • Life imprisonment with a minimum of 12 years for attempted murder.
  • Five years (to run concurrently) for GBH with intent.
  • One year (to run concurrently) for possession of a knife.

Police Praise Victims and Officers

Detective Constable Lucas Pollard described the incident as a “horrific attack” and commended the courage of the victims and the swift response of officers.

“The women absolutely thought they were going to die – it must have been terrifying for them, not least as a six-month-old baby was also inside the property.

“Those officers confronted Eleto, despite the danger, and managed to disarm and arrest him. Their bravery is truly commendable.”

This case highlights the enduring impact of domestic violence and the critical role of police intervention in protecting victims and bringing perpetrators to justice.
