Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting in Croydon
A man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting in Croydon that left 41-year-old Anthony Morrison dead.
Byron Cole, 39, of Gleneldon Road in Lambeth, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Tuesday.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court later today (Tuesday, 24 June).
Fatal Shooting on Imperial Way
The investigation was launched after emergency services were called at 17:04hrs on Thursday, 19 June to reports of shots fired on Imperial Way, Croydon.
Upon arrival, officers found Anthony Morrison, 41, with gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Additional Arrest
As part of the investigation, a 37-year-old woman [B] was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police Appeal
The Metropolitan Police continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the shooting. Witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to come forward.
