A pedestrian in her 50s tragically died after being hit by a car on a Surrey road in the early hours of Friday morning.
Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses and information. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been assisting with enquiries, according to the police.
The incident occurred on the A322 Lightwater bypass, between the M3 and the Gordon Boys roundabout, shortly after 2.30am. Despite the swift response from the South East Coast Ambulance Service, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are currently trying to trace her movements before the incident and are seeking anyone who was travelling along the A322 between midnight and 03:00, or who saw a person walking along the side of the southbound carriageway.
The road, a four-lane stretch of dual carriageway with trees on either side, was closed following the incident but has since reopened.
Surrey Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has CCTV, dash cam, or helmet cam footage that might have captured it, to come forward. Those with any information are urged to get in touch with the police to assist in their investigation.
