A man is in hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries following a collision involving a moped in Butterworth Street, Swindon, in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 AM when Wiltshire Police responded to a report of a collision between a dark-coloured moped and a parked car. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 50s who had sustained severe injuries. He was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Serious Collision Investigation Team is conducting ongoing enquiries into the incident. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the moped riding in the Faringdon Road or Park Lane areas to come forward.

In accordance with protocol, Wiltshire Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to police contact with the moped rider prior to the incident. The IOPC will be conducting an independent investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.
