A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man who was stabbed in the World’s End Estate, Kensington and Chelsea. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Omarkafi Sahal, succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalised for over two weeks.

Police were called to the scene at around 20:55 hrs on Monday, 30 September, following reports of a stabbing in SW10. Officers arrived alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, discovering the man with a stab wound injury. Omarkafi was immediately transported to a central London hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his passing on 17 October.

Detectives have informed Omarkafi’s family, who are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

Initially, the investigation was handled by officers from Kensington and Chelsea, but following Omarkafi’s death, it was transferred to homicide detectives led by Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell.

DCI Foxwell commented: “This is a tragic development in this investigation, and my thoughts are with Omarkafi’s family at this time. Three men have been charged as part of this investigation prior to Omarkafi’s death, and work is ongoing to review those charges as appropriate. I would stress, however, that charges do not indicate the end of our investigation. I urge anyone with any information who has not already spoken to police to get in touch at the earliest opportunity. Your information could still be vital to our investigation.”

Superintendent Owen Renowden, who oversees policing in Kensington and Chelsea, added: “This is a shocking incident in which a young man has been fatally injured. Officers have worked swiftly to identify those involved and bring charges, and that work continues. There has been an increased police presence in the area, including support from Neighbourhood Policing Teams, specialist officers, and local authority partners. Any local residents with concerns are encouraged to speak to an officer or call 101.”

Three men were previously charged in relation to the incident that led to Omarkafi’s injuries and have since appeared in court. Police will now consult with the Crown Prosecution Service to determine whether any charges need to be revised following Omarkafi’s death.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC, quoting reference CAD 7105/30SEP. To remain anonymous, individuals can contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
