Six fire engines and approximately 40 firefighters were called to tackle a house fire on Benson Avenue in East Ham earlier today.

The blaze caused significant damage to part of the first floor and the loft of a mid-terraced property.

London Fire Brigade’s Control Officers received the first call at 8:31 am, and crews from Stratford, Poplar, Plaistow, East Ham, and Barking fire stations were promptly dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control by 11:08 am.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No injuries have been reported, and fire crews remain on-site to ensure the area is safe.

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: “Our teams responded quickly to contain the fire and limit the damage. An investigation into the cause is ongoing.”
