A class A drug dealer who raped a vulnerable woman in Medway has been jailed for 12 years.
On 13 July 2023, patrols were called to an address in the Luton area of Chatham following a report of an assault.
Officers spoke to a woman at the property who alleged a man she knew, Jayden Stewart, had punched her and grabbed her neck causing bruising.
The victim further stated that since 7 July, Stewart had assaulted and raped her several times and damaged her mobile phone.
Stewart was arrested and taken into custody. The constables also seized multiple wraps of cocaine and heroin.
Officers later charged him with four counts of rape, two assaults by beating, criminal damage, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and being concerned in the supply of heroin.
Stewart, of Alexandra Street, Canning Town, Greater London, pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to the two drug dealing charges.
He pleaded not guilty to the other indictments and was convicted on Friday 8 March 2024, following a trial. On Wednesday 22 January 2025, the 24 year old was sentenced to 12 years.
He will have to serve an extra four years on licence following that term, and will be required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Bindiya Patel said: ‘This criminal travelled to Chatham to deal cocaine and heroin, and whilst there subjected a vulnerable woman to a series of rapes and assaults.
Throughout this investigation, he has shown no remorse for his actions or empathy towards the woman he targeted. He denied the charges involving the victim and put her through the ordeal of a trial, forcing her to relive what had happened to her.
‘I would like to commend the victim for her courage in reporting this man and assisting our investigation to ensure he is held responsible for his crimes.’
