A Metropolitan Police vehicle responding to an emergency call was involved in a collision late last night in Hillingdon, resulting in damage to several vehicles but, fortunately, no injuries.
The incident occurred at around 11:00 pm on Thursday, 20 February when the police car struck a traffic island on Long Lane, Hillingdon. According to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police, the force of the impact caused damage to three other vehicles in the area.
Emergency services arrived promptly at the scene. The police officers in the responding vehicle were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure but were confirmed to be uninjured. No members of the public sustained injuries during the incident.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said:
“Around 23:00hrs on Thursday, 20 February, a police car responding to a call was involved in a collision with a traffic island in Long Lane, Hillingdon. Three other vehicles were damaged in the incident, though nobody was injured. The officers involved were taken to hospital as a precaution but were otherwise uninjured.”
The area was cordoned off for several hours to allow for an investigation into the collision and for debris to be cleared from the road. Traffic delays were reported in the vicinity, but the road has since been fully reopened.
An internal review has been initiated to assess the circumstances leading to the crash. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that standard procedures are being followed, including examining the vehicle’s speed and response protocols during emergency calls.
Local residents expressed concern about the incident but were relieved that no one was seriously hurt. One witness, who lives nearby, said, “We heard a loud bang and rushed out to see what had happened. It’s a relief to know that everyone is okay.”
The Metropolitan Police have not reported any further disruptions in the area but urge drivers to exercise caution, especially in areas with complex traffic layouts like Long Lane.
