Four people have been charged in connection with the death of a six-month-old baby boy more than a year ago, following an investigation by three police forces.

Investigation Launched After Baby’s Death

Police were called to a home in Houghton Regis on February 9, 2024, over concerns for the welfare of baby Archie Woodbridge. He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Following the tragic incident, the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

Charges and Court Proceedings

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Bedfordshire Police charged four people in connection with the case:

  • Kieran Humphreys, 32, of Houghton Regis – Charged with:
    • Murder of a child
    • Child cruelty
    • Conspiring to pervert the course of justice
  • Sam Wyatt, 33, of Houghton Regis – Charged with:
    • Child cruelty
    • Conspiring to pervert the course of justice
  • Sharon Humphreys, 58, of Houghton Regis – Charged with:
    • Child cruelty
    • Conspiring to pervert the course of justice
  • Karen Smith, 39, of Houghton Regis – Charged with:
    • Conspiring to pervert the course of justice

Upcoming Court Hearings

  • Kieran Humphreys has been remanded into custody and is set to appear at Luton Crown Court on Friday, February 28.
  • The three other defendants have been bailed and will appear at Luton Magistrates’ Court on March 27.
