Shocking images have revealed the extent of damage caused by a suspected arson attack at a residential property in Catford.
Firefighters Battle Blaze
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) received the first of nine emergency calls shortly before 5:40 AM on Sunday, March 2, alerting them to a fire on Stanstead Road.
In response, six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Forest Hill, Lewisham, Greenwich, and other surrounding fire stations were deployed to the scene.
Upon arrival, crews found a semi-detached house ablaze, with flames consuming half of a three-roomed flat on the ground floor.
Man Escapes & Hospitalized
A man managed to escape the burning building before emergency responders arrived. He was later taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service for treatment.
Fire Under Control & Police Investigation Underway
Fire crews worked swiftly to bring the fire under control by 6:38 AM, preventing further damage to the property.
Authorities, including the Metropolitan Police, have since launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remains in custody as police inquiries continue.

An LFB spokesperson provided details about the incident:
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a semi-detached house on Stanstead Road in Catford. Half of a three-roomed flat on the ground floor was damaged by the fire. One man left the building before the Brigade arrived and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.
Control Officers took the first of nine calls at 05:38 on Sunday morning and mobilised crews from Forest Hill, Lewisham, Greenwich, and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 06:38.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the fire to come forward as the investigation continues.
