A 27-year-old woman has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a police car in Camberwell, South London, this afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 1:20pm today (Tuesday, March 18) on Denmark Hill, near Camberwell Green, a busy area lined with shops and cafes and located close to King’s College Hospital.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene, with London Ambulance Service (LAS) treating the woman at the roadside before taking her to A&E. Her condition remains unknown at this stage, and police say they are awaiting an update.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:

Officers were called at 1.21pm on Tuesday, March 18, to a report of a collision involving a police vehicle and a pedestrian between Camberwell Green and Denmark Hill in Southwark. The London Ambulance Service attended and a 27-year-old woman was treated at the scene. We await an update on her condition. No police officers required treatment.”

Denmark Hill was closed between Camberwell Green and Coldharbour Lane shortly after the collision at 1:45pm, causing major disruption to local traffic. Eleven London bus routes have been diverted as a result.

The London Ambulance Service has also been contacted for further comment.

Witnesses report that the crash happened on the Denmark Hill crossing by Camberwell Green, a high-footfall area with frequent pedestrian activity.
