A man has been taken to hospital following a stabbing in Greenwich this evening, prompting a police investigation and a crime scene to be established in the area.

The incident occurred shortly after 5:30pm on Blissett Street, near Maidenstone Hill in SE10. Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police and crews from the London Ambulance Service, responded swiftly to reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from stab injuries. He was treated at the scene before being transported by road to a major trauma centre. His condition is currently being assessed and a medical update is expected in due course.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:

“Police were called shortly after 17:30hrs on Tuesday, 25 March to reports of a stabbing in the vicinity of Blissett Street, SE10.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a man was located with stab injuries – he has been taken to hospital for treatment where he remains.

A condition update awaits. A crime scene remains in place at the location. No arrests have been made and enquiries into the circumstances continue.”

The London Ambulance Service confirmed the scale of the response, which included multiple emergency units and the dispatch of London’s Air Ambulance.

A LAS spokesperson said:

“We were called at 5.43pm today (25 March) to reports of a stabbing on Maidenstone Hill, SE10.

We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre by road.”

A cordon remains in place as forensic teams carry out investigations. Police have not released any further information regarding potential suspects or the motive behind the attack.
