A motorbike rider has sustained life-changing injuries and may lose his leg following a serious road traffic collision on High Road, Wood Green, late on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.55pm on 11 April, after reports of a collision at the junction of Lyndhurst Road involving a motorbike and another vehicle.

Paramedics and police attended the incident, and the rider was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Medical professionals have since confirmed the man may lose his leg due to the severity of the injuries sustained in the crash.

Major Disruption to Road and Bus Services

As a result of the collision, High Road in Wood Green is closed in both directions at Lyndhurst Road. Transport for London has issued significant diversions affecting multiple bus routes:

  • 121, 329, N29 – Diverted via Bounds Green Road, Brownlow Road, A406 and Green Lanes.
  • 141 – Service curtailed to Wood Green Bus Garage.
  • 232 – Diverted via Bounds Green Road, Brownlow Road, and A406 in both directions.

Commuters are advised to check local travel updates and allow for extra journey time as delays are expected to continue into Saturday morning.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into the collision and are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone who may have seen the incident or the moments leading up to it.

A Met Police Source said:

“This was a serious collision that has left a man facing life-changing injuries. We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened or has relevant footage.”
