A man has been charged after a stabbing in broad daylight near a mosque in Plumstead, south-east London.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to Plumstead Road, SE18, shortly after 1pm on Friday 11 April, following reports of a stabbing near the Greenwich Islamic Centre.

The London Ambulance Service responded to the scene and found a man in his 30s suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

Following the incident, police arrested two men — one in his 30s and another in his 20s — on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Suspect Charged

Miles Benjimin, 32, of Harrow Manorway, Greenwich, was later charged with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 12 April, where he was remanded in custody. Benjimin is next due to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday 9 May.

The second man, aged in his 20s, was de-arrested following further police enquiries.

Ongoing Investigation

A spokesperson for the Met confirmed the investigation is ongoing and that officers are continuing to gather evidence.
