A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Lewisham, South East London, over the weekend.
Hai Van Nguyen, 41, of Hatfield Close, SE14, was formally charged on Monday, April 14 with the murder of his wife, Hien Thi Vu, aged 45. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
Nguyen’s next court appearance will be confirmed at a later date.
Emergency Services Called to Scene
At 06:41am on Sunday, April 13, the London Ambulance Service alerted police to a report of a seriously injured woman at an address in Hatfield Close.
Police officers, supported by London’s Air Ambulance, were quickly deployed to the scene. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Hien Vu was pronounced dead at the location.
Minutes later, at 06:52am, a 41-year-old man self-presented at Lewisham Police Station in connection with the incident. He was subsequently arrested and later charged with murder.
Investigation Ongoing
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, specialist officers are providing support to Hien Vu’s next-of-kin.
The Metropolitan Police have not released further details about the incident, but investigations remain active.
