A 28-year-old man has been arrested following an assault in East London which left him with stab wounds and led to the discovery of suspected drug offences.

Metropolitan Police were called to reports of an assault on Old Bethnal Green Road, E2, at approximately 7:00pm on Saturday, April 19.

Officers responded alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they discovered a man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment, and his condition has since been deemed non-life changing.

However, the case took a dramatic turn when the same man was later arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs and being concerned in the supply of controlled substances.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed:

“The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting reference 5806/19APRIL.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses and information, particularly from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
