A man is fighting for his life in hospital following a serious collision in Rainham on Friday evening (April 25).
The Metropolitan Police were called to New Road, RM13, at around 8.18pm after reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian. Officers attended the scene alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, where they found a 45-year-old man suffering from serious injuries.
The man received emergency treatment at the scene before being rushed to hospital. A spokesperson for the Met confirmed that his injuries are considered potentially life-changing, if not life-threatening.
The incident is now under investigation by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, with officers working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
In a statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to New Road, RM13 at 20:18hrs on Friday, 25 April following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a 45-year-old man for serious injuries before taking him to hospital. The man suffered from life-changing/threatening injuries and currently remains in hospital.”
