A major emergency response was launched early this morning following concerns for the welfare of a person on Lambeth Bridge in central London.
At around 4am, officers from the Metropolitan Police, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, and a boat crew from the London Fire Brigade were scrambled to the scene at Lambeth Bridge after reports of a person on the wrong side of the railings.
The incident was treated as a mental health emergency, with trained officers and paramedics working to engage with the individual safely. London Fire Brigade confirmed that their specialist rescue boat attended, but no further assistance from them was required after the situation was assessed.
Police cordoned off the bridge during the incident, and traffic has been briefly disrupted while emergency crews worked.

Route N88 (towards Clapham): From Lambeth Palace Road at Albert Embankment, continuing along Albert Embankment, Vauxhall Bus Station.
