A serious credit card skimming fraud allegation has emerged involving C and G Cash and Carry Chinese Groceries, located at West Green Road, London N15, prompting calls for caution among local residents and a police investigation.
In a viral social media post shared within the community, a customer reported that unauthorised transactions were attempted on their American Express card, totaling £121, shortly after visiting the store. The attempted purchases allegedly occurred at 9:55pm on April 28, a time when the store was reportedly closed to the public.
The complainant claims that they have been a regular customer at the shop and noted the business had recently changed ownership in mid-April. The customer alleges the fraud coincided with the new management and that they have since reported the incident to police.
“This fraud was carried out by the new owner… Please do not shop here and risk becoming a victim,” the individual wrote, warning others of potential financial risk.
Credit Card Skimming Concerns
Credit card skimming typically involves the use of illegal devices that clone card details during point-of-sale transactions. Victims are often unaware their information has been compromised until suspicious charges appear on their accounts.
American Express reportedly flagged the transaction attempts, prompting the customer to take swift action and alert authorities.
Police Response and Consumer Caution
