Car Fire Closes A229 Bluebell Hill — Firefighters Tackle Blaze Near Chatham

Emergency services were called to Bluebell Hill on the A229 (Chatham-bound) this afternoon after reports of a vehicle fire.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) confirmed that three fire engines were dispatched to the scene at 2.02pm on Saturday 2nd August 2025. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus swiftly brought the blaze under control using a high-pressure hose reel jet.

The fire was extinguished by 3pm

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and an investigation into the circumstances is underway.

Traffic Impact

The incident caused disruption to traffic on the Chatham-bound carriageway, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes during the firefighting operation.

A KFRS spokesperson said:

“Crews responded quickly to the scene and successfully extinguished the vehicle fire. We are pleased to report there were no injuries.”
