A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with a series of serious sexual offences, including rape.

PC Robert Wing, who is attached to Specialist Operations, was charged on Thursday, 24 July with:

  • Four counts of rape

  • Two counts of assault by penetration

  • One count of sexual assault

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 27 August.

Allegations span three years

The charges relate to alleged incidents between 2013 and 2016, all involving the same victim. Police confirmed that the alleged offences are said to have taken place while PC Wing was off duty.

The officer was first arrested on 1 March 2023 on suspicion of rape and was immediately suspended from duty.

Police oversight engaged

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and is monitoring the case.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“The charges are extremely serious and the matter is now before the courts. The officer remains suspended from duty.”
