Antonov-124 Skims Apartment Blocks Near Moscow
The colossal Russian Antonov-124 cargo plane, part of Putin’s military Fleetfleet, swooped just metres above blocks of flats as it approached Vnukovo airport. The jaw-dropping manoeuvre came amidst one of the fiercest Ukrainian drone attacks on the Kremlin city since the war Beganbegan.
Residents were left stunned as the 226ft-long beast, boasting a 240ft wingspan and capable of carrying 150 tons of cargo, ducked under the radar to avoid being shot down by Russian air defences scrambling to tackle the drone swarm.
Drone Assault Chaos Grounds Moscow Flights
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed at least 34 drones were shot down overnight and into the morning, leading to major flight havoc. Sheremetyevo, the capital’s main international airport, along with Kazan and Nizhnekamsk airports, suspended all arrivals and departures.
- A Dubai to Moscow flight was diverted to Nizhny Novgorod, where passengers endured a three-hour wait on board before being let off — given mattresses and left stranded in the terminal.
- Another flight from Vladivostok rerouted to St Petersburg as the drone chaos sent shockwaves through Russia’s airspace.
One stranded passenger wrote: “There are 300 of us. No food, no booze, just water. Everyone’s phone chargers dead and flights keep getting pushed back.”
Explosions and Strikes as War Hits Moscow
The tension escalated further with a car park explosion reported in Reutov, just nine miles from the Kremlin, marking a rare but growing reach of conflict inside Moscow.
Meanwhile, Ukraine suffered deadly Russian bombings. A missile strike in the Odesa region killed one woman and injured three, while six aerial bombs hit a residential building in Zaporizhzhia, claiming another civilian life.
All this unfolds shortly before a high-stakes meeting between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York.
