A suspect has been charged with murder following the death of a man who was assaulted in Birchington

Kent Police attended following an altercation in Station Road at 1.49pm on Saturday 9 March 2024. A man in his 40s was taken to a London hospital, where he died on Monday 15 April.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating and previously charged Rashko Kurtev, 31, with causing grievous bodily harm.

On Friday 14 June, Mr Kurtev, of Park Avenue, Birchington, was further charged with murder in relation to the incident.

He appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 15 June and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday 18 June.
