Kebab Ye Served Prohibition Notice by London Fire Brigade for Major Safety Breaches
A kebab shop in Beckenham has been ordered to close after London Fire Brigade (LFB) issued a prohibition notice citing severe fire safety concerns that pose a significant risk to occupants.
A notice taped to the window of Kebab Ye, located at 292-294 High Street, BR3 1DY, confirms the action was taken on May 12, 2025, against SAS Group Holdings LTD.
Residential Units Also Affected
The premises consist of a ground-floor commercial unit with residential accommodation above. While the shop itself was not in active operation when the notice was served, the prohibition also applies to the residential areas, effectively banning sleeping on the premises until remedial actions are completed.
The prohibition was issued under Article 31 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, stating that the fire risks were “so serious” that continued occupation is unsafe.
List of Fire Safety Failings
The notice lists a series of dangerous failings, including:
- Inadequate fire separation between floors
- Insufficient means of escape
- Lack of fire protection for escape routes
- No fire warning or alarm system
- Escape routes blocked by combustible materials
- Routes passing through high fire risk zones
- Presence of highly combustible materials compromising evacuation
Official Statement and Appeal Process
The enforcement was authorised by DAC K McKenzie of the LFB. Under the current legislation, the responsible party has 21 days to appeal the decision.
Public Safety Reminder
This action comes amid wider fire safety enforcement efforts across London. Residents and business owners are reminded that compliance with fire safety regulations is legally mandatory, especially for mixed-use properties that involve sleeping accommodations.
