Car Seized in Brookside After Being Driven Without Tax or Valid MOT
Brookside, Telford – 29 April 2025 | Local News Update
Police in Brookside have seized a vehicle this morning after it was discovered being driven without valid road tax and with an expired MOT certificate, prompting a fresh warning to motorists across the area.
The Brookside Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) responded to concerns raised by local residents about the suspicious vehicle. Upon carrying out checks, officers found that the car’s MOT had expired in March 2024, more than a year ago.
As a result, the vehicle was immediately seized under road traffic regulations.
Police Reminder to Vehicle Owners
Brookside SNT issued a strong reminder to all drivers and vehicle owners:
“Please ensure that if you are the registered keeper of a vehicle, it is taxed, insured, and has a valid MOT.”
Failure to comply with these legal obligations can lead not only to the seizure of the vehicle but also to potential fines, penalty points, and court action.
Why MOT, Tax, and Insurance Are Essential
Driving without an MOT means a vehicle has not been confirmed as safe for road use, increasing risks for the driver and other road users. Similarly, unpaid vehicle tax and missing insurance can invalidate cover in the event of an accident and leave drivers facing significant legal penalties.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) advises motorists to check their vehicle’s MOT status and tax due date regularly through the official GOV.UK website.
Local Community Support
Residents have praised the swift action of Brookside police officers, highlighting the importance of community vigilance in keeping roads safe.
Motorists are encouraged to act promptly if their MOT or tax renewal date is approaching to avoid enforcement action.
