Two men have been arrested and approximately €3 million worth of heroin seized as part of a major operation targeting organised crime gangs in Dublin.
Members of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau intercepted and searched a vehicle in the Coolock area on Friday, 2 May 2025.
During the search, officers seized around 21 kilograms of suspected heroin (subject to forensic analysis).
Following the initial arrest at the scene, a second man was apprehended at a separate location after further enquiries.
Both suspects are currently detained at a Garda station in north Dublin under drug trafficking legislation.
The seized drugs have been submitted to Forensic Science Ireland for formal examination.
Assistant Commissioner for Organised and Serious Crime Angela Willis commented:
The sale and supply of heroin has an especially harmful impact, not only destroying people’s lives but leaving a lasting effect on entire communities in Ireland and elsewhere.
Disrupting heroin trafficking remains a central focus of our work and we will continue to target the criminal organisations that operate at a global level with the intention of impacting the lives of ordinary people all over this country.
The arrests form part of ongoing investigations into transnational and Dublin-based organised crime groups, as Gardaí continue their crackdown on illegal drug distribution.
