A major police incident has led to the full closure of East Hill (A226) in Dartford town centre, prompting traffic disruption, forensic activity, and bus diversions this evening.
The road was cordoned off in both directions between Great Queen Street and York Road from early afternoon, as Kent Police deployed multiple patrol units and officers to the scene.
Forensics Deployed
At approximately 7:50pm, photographs showed forensics officers working near the junction with The Brent, indicating the investigation’s seriousness. The exact nature of the incident has not been confirmed by authorities.
“Kent Police have filled East Hill with officers and vehicles as they respond to an incident,” a statement from the scene read.
Buses Diverted
TfL confirmed that bus routes 96, 428, and 492 were diverted away from Dartford train station, causing knock-on delays for commuters.
Despite speculation and eyewitness reports suggesting a man may have been found injured in a vehicle earlier in the day, this has not been verified by police.
The London Ambulance Service was reportedly stood down before arrival, and no injuries have been officially confirmed.
Public Appeal
East Hill remained closed as of 8:10pm, with no timeline provided for reopening. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow official traffic updates.
