The devastated family of Alisha Ponter, a 16-year-old girl tragically killed in a car crash, has erected a touching tribute at the site of the accident as a poignant reminder of their beloved daughter’s life.
Alisha Ponter, a resident of Ashford, lost her life following a collision involving a Toyota Hilux on the A249 near Maidstone last Saturday. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash.
Her grieving mother, Cody Marie Hobman, described Alisha as “the most beautiful girl ever” and expressed her profound sense of loss. She fondly remembered Alisha as a vibrant and quirky individual, affectionately calling her “our little sparkler.”
According to her mother, Alisha was on her way to meet friends in Detling when the tragic accident occurred.
Emergency services responded to the scene promptly, with an air ambulance dispatched to assist. The crash, which occurred on the Sheppey-bound carriageway near the Stockbury roundabout and Church Hill, resulted in serious injuries to a 15-year-old boy who was airlifted to a London hospital. Another 17-year-old boy sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The older boy involved in the crash was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
In memory of Alisha, her family set up a poignant roadside tribute near the crash site, adorned with heartfelt messages and tokens of remembrance.
At the Folkestone Academy, where Alisha was a student, staff expressed their profound sadness at the tragic loss, extending their condolences to her family and friends. Additional support services have been made available to students and staff to help them cope with the emotional impact of Alisha’s passing.
Alisha’s father, Luke Ponter, described her as bubbly, dependable, and enamoured with beauty treatments. He recalled her excitement about an upcoming work experience opportunity in a beauty shop, highlighting her passion for all things beauty-related.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit continues to lead inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police urge anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and assist with their investigation.
