Off-road Menace: Youth Biker Gang Causes Chaos In Hartlepool Headland

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Officers are calling for the public’s help after a group of youths on off-road motorbikes wreaked havoc in the Headland area over the weekend.

Disturbing images and videos were shared with police by concerned residents after multiple young riders were spotted on Saturday (May 10) tearing up grass, creating excessive noise, and intimidating those walking through the neighbourhood.

Community Snaps Riders in Action

Residents say the youths were seen riding aggressively, ignoring the presence of families, and leaving visible damage to public green spaces.

Some of the riders were captured wearing distinctive clothing and helmets, which officers hope could help identify them.

A police spokesperson said:

“These bikes are not only illegal on public land but are a persistent source of fear and stress to the local community. We are determined to trace those responsible.”

Police Urge Public to Speak Up

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Police are asking anyone who recognises the individuals or knows where the bikes are stored to come forward.

The force confirmed that callers do not need to provide their name and all reports will be treated with discretion.

Why It Matters

Off-road biking is a common complaint in Hartlepool and other parts of County Durham, with residents repeatedly voicing concern over the damage to public property and threats to pedestrian safety.

Neighbourhood officers have warned that action will be taken where possible, including seizing bikes and prosecuting riders for road traffic offences and anti-social behaviour.
