In a stunning political shake-up, Reform UK has surged past Labour to become Britain’s largest political party by membership. Nigel Farage hailed the moment as “the end of two-party politics” in the UK.

Reform UK’s Meteoric Rise

The insurgent party’s live membership counter now reads a massive 268,703. Meanwhile, Labour has plunged below 250,000 paid-up members, according to internal data since the 2024 General Election.

“As we have suspected for some time, Reform is now the largest political party in British politics — a huge milestone for us. The age of two-party politics is dead,” declared Mr Farage.

Labour Faces Membership Freefall

Labour’s membership has collapsed by 100,000 in just a year under Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership. Once boasting nearly 550,000 members under Jeremy Corbyn, Labour’s ranks have shrunk dramatically:

  • 432,000 members in December 2021
  • 333,235 in 2024
  • Now below 250,000

A Labour spokesperson refused to confirm the latest numbers, stating, “Our membership figures are published in our annual report. We do not give a running commentary on them throughout the year.”

Dominating the Political Landscape

Reform UK’s explosive membership surge follows its breakthrough on Boxing Day last year when it overtook the Conservatives with 131,680 members. In just 12 months, it has more than doubled.

The party’s momentum isn’t just numbers. A recent More in Common poll put Reform UK in the lead with 30% national support, trouncing Labour at 20% and Conservatives at 21%. The party also racked up 65 council seat wins since the May 2025 elections and clinched a quadruple by-election victory across Scotland, Lincolnshire, and County Durham this week.

Adding fuel to the fire, Reform UK bagged a hefty £9 million donation from ex-Conservative donor Christopher Harborne last week, alongside defections from former Tory MPs.

Verified Figures and Party Standings

Independent journalists have verified Reform UK’s membership surge, with ex-chairman Zia Yusuf sharing internal screenshots to back the claims. This comes despite Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch’s accusations of “fakery.”

By contrast, the Liberal Democrats hold 83,174 members, and the Green Party’s ranks jumped from 60,000 to 180,000 after Zack Polanski took charge in August. Jeremy Corbyn’s new outfit, Your Party, claims 50,000 members with a huge 800,000 expressing interest earlier this year.
