At around 8.50pm on Tuesday 30 July 2024, officers were on patrol in Delce Road, Rochester when they saw a Ford Focus being driven at a speed they thought was too fast in a residential area.

The constables required the driver to stop, however, the car continued. It was pursued through Chatham town centre to Strover Street, Gillingham, where it collided with a parked vehicle. The officers seized cocaine, cannabis and mobile phones from inside the Ford, which was later found to be stolen. A man and a woman were arrested and taken into custody.

Jack Larkin, 31, and Mary Couchman, 21, both of Spade Lane, Hartlip, were later charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Mr Larkin was also charged with dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, no insurance and handling stolen property. The suspects were remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 1 August.
