Fire crews rushed to Heron Close, Sittingbourne yesterday afternoon after a blaze broke out, damaging a home’s roof and leaving one person with minor burns.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 4:38pm to reports of a roof fire. The flames are believed to have started in bushes in the garden before spreading to a garage and then into the roof space of the property.

Three fire engines and a height vehicle attended. Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used high-pressure hose reel jets to bring the fire under control.

The incident was fully resolved by 9:48pm, with no other injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
