A man from Brockley has been sentenced to prison following a violent street brawl in which his brother and another man sustained stab wounds during a broad daylight altercation in Cambridgeshire.
Jonathan Watson, 38, of Ivy Road, Brockley, was among three men involved in the fight that erupted on Hornbeam Close in March, Cambridgeshire, at around 1pm on March 18, 2023. Police were alerted by a flurry of 999 calls reporting a fight involving weapons in the residential street.
Brothers Jonathan and Kenneth Watson, 43, faced off with Lenny Evans, 33, armed with baseball bats. The confrontation quickly escalated into a brawl, with all three men caught on CCTV footage exchanging blows before fleeing the scene as officers arrived.
Jonathan Watson was later arrested in his Audi at the end of the street. Soon after, emergency services were called to a nearby petrol station, where Lenny Evans had been dropped off with stab wounds to his face, hand, and torso. He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment. Kenneth Watson also suffered multiple stab wounds to the head during the altercation.
Sentences Handed Down
At a hearing on Friday, April 4, Jonathan Watson was sentenced to two years and two months in prison for affray, with an additional four months added for dealing cannabis.
His brother, Kenneth Watson, of Hornbeam Close, and Lenny Evans, of East Drive, were each handed two years and two months behind bars for affray.
Police Statement
Detective Constable Tom Adams, who led the investigation, condemned the incident:
“This level of violence and the brazen use of weapons is absolutely unacceptable.
Residents of this street have, unsurprisingly, been left shocked and upset by the actions of the Watson brothers and Evans, so I am pleased they are all now behind bars.”
The case highlights the dangers of street violence and the swift action taken by authorities to bring those responsible to justice.
