A mother who was the victim of a horrific chemical attack along with her two children in Clapham may lose sight in her right eye, according to the latest update from the police/" title="Metropolitan Police" rel="nofollow">Metropolitan Police.

The 31-year-old woman and her daughters, aged eight and three, were targeted in Lessar Avenue at 7:25 pm on January 31. They were rushed to the hospital following the attack, in which a man threw a corrosive alkaline substance at them.

Metropolitan Police Commander Jon Savell provided the latest update, revealing that the mother remains in a “very critical but stable condition” with significant facial injuries that will likely affect her for life. There are fears that she may lose sight in her right eye as a result of the attack. Fortunately, her daughters have been discharged from the hospital.

The search for the suspect, Abdul Ezedi, continues, with the last sighting reported on Southwark Bridge at 9:50 pm on January 31. Police are actively investigating his movements, utilizing CCTV footage and tracking his movements on the Tube network through his bank card transactions.

A man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and taken to a south London custody suite but has since been released on bail.

Counter-terrorism officers are assisting in the investigation, sifting through CCTV footage as part of the manhunt. Detective Superintendent Rick Sewett stated that establishing the relationship between Ezedi and the injured woman is still a priority for investigators. While the discovery of Ezedi’s mobile phone has shed some light on their connection, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

It has been confirmed that Ezedi is not the father of the woman’s children who were also injured during the attack.

A reward of up to £20,000 was previously offered for information leading to the arrest of Abdul Ezedi. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police at 020 7175 2784 or dial 999 for immediate assistance. Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
