A cyclist has been taken to hospital as a priority after a crash involving a car in Poplar earlier today.
Emergency services were called to East India Dock Road, near its junction with Birchfield Street, at around 10.15am following reports of a collision between a bicycle and a car.
The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) both attended the scene, where a female cyclist was found injured.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to a major trauma centre. A LAS spokesperson confirmed that she was taken to hospital “as a priority”, but her injuries are not believed to be life-changing.
“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and it arrived in six minutes,” said a spokesperson for the LAS.
“Our crews treated a woman at the scene, before taking her to a London major trauma centre, as a priority.”
A spokesperson for the Met Police added:
“Officers were called at 10.17am to a collision involving a car and a cyclist. Her injuries are not believed to be life-changing.”
The A13 East India Dock Road was closed in both directions between Burdett Road and Birchfield Street, causing significant delays in the area, according to Transport for London (TfL).
The road was reopened shortly after 12.20pm, police confirmed.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no arrests have been reported at this time.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police on 101 or via the Met Police website, quoting incident reference for April 19.
