Police have named the victim of a fatal collision in Harrow that involved a car, a bus, and pedestrians, as the first picture of the deceased has been released.

Victim Identified

The woman who tragically lost her life has been identified as 46-year-old Chithra Vanmeeganathan from Wembley.

The collision occurred at 21:19hrs on Monday, 24 February, on Bessborough Road, and despite the best efforts of emergency services, Chithra sadly died at the scene.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Officers from the Metropolitan Police, the London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance all responded to the scene.

Chithra’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support from officers.

Other Victims and Arrest Made

Two other pedestrians – a 12-year-old boy and a woman in her 30s – were also injured and taken to hospital. Fortunately, their conditions are not life-threatening.

The driver of the car involved stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Sergeant Paul Jackson, from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, urged witnesses to come forward, stating:

“Our thoughts remain with Chithra’s family at this difficult time. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and we are continuing to appeal for anyone with footage, including doorbell camera or dashcam footage, or anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.”
