A fundraiser initiated to support the mother and daughters injured in last week’s chemical attack in Clapham has garnered an overwhelming response, raising more than £40,000 as of Friday morning.
This surge in donations follows recent updates from the police, who confirmed on Thursday that the last verified sighting of suspect Abdul Ezedi was him traversing Battersea Park before crossing Chelsea Bridge.
The final known sighting of Ezedi, as captured by CCTV footage, shows him heading north over the bridge at 11:27 pm on the night of the attack, which occurred on January 31.
While the mother injured in the assault remains hospitalized and incapacitated, her two young daughters, who were also affected but to a lesser extent, continue their recovery.
In a heartfelt statement posted on the GoFundMe page, friends of the family expressed their profound gratitude to all those who contributed to the fundraiser, highlighting the invaluable support received during this challenging period.
Meanwhile, armed police conducted raids on properties associated with Ezedi in Newcastle, where he resided, including his workplace. However, no arrests were made during these operations.
Metropolitan Police Commander Jon Savell disclosed that over 100 officers have been deployed to the case, intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Detectives investigating the incident have indicated that Ezedi and the 31-year-old victim were previously involved in a relationship that had soured before the attack.
Speculation surrounds Ezedi’s whereabouts, with authorities considering the possibility that he may be receiving assistance from accomplices or that he may have met an unfortunate fate.
