A violent 72-hour stretch across London has left seven people stabbed in separate incidents, prompting concern over rising knife crime in the capital. Between April 9 and April 11, stabbings were reported in Greenwich, Plumstead, Woolwich, Stanmore, Clapham, Highgate, and Stockwell.

Wandsworth Road, Stockwell – April 9

The violence began early on April 9, when police were called to Wandsworth Road, Stockwell at around 2.22am. A man in his 20s was found inside a shop with stab wounds following a reported altercation.

He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life changing. Enquiries are ongoing.

Hoskins Street, Greenwich – April 9

Later that day, at around 5.30pm, an 18-year-old man was stabbed in Hoskins Street, Greenwich. He was taken to a major trauma centre with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

Police are investigating after reports of a group of men fighting in the area before the attack.

Uxbridge Road, Stanmore – April 10

In a particularly shocking incident, a man in his 70s was stabbed onboard a 340 bus in Stanmore at around 11.32am. The bus came to a stop in Uxbridge Road, where London’s Air Ambulance and emergency crews attended.

The man was rushed to a major trauma centre. His condition has since been confirmed as non-life threatening. No arrests have been made.

Parry Place, Woolwich – April 10

At around 6.10pm, a man in his 30s was stabbed in Parry Place, Woolwich. A large police cordon was put in place around Beresford Street nearby.

No arrests have been made, and police say enquiries are ongoing.

Clapham High Street – April 10

Just a few hours later, at approximately 9pm, another stabbing occurred in Clapham High Street. A man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital.

His injuries were later confirmed as non-life threatening. In a significant update, three men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the attack.

Swain’s Lane, Highgate – April 10

At 9.51pm, police were called to a grocery shop in Swain’s Lane, Highgate, where a 34-year-old man was reportedly stabbed in the back by a small group of men inside Superettes.

A 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Enquiries continue.

Plumstead Road, Plumstead – April 11

The latest incident occurred near the Greenwich Islamic Centre on Plumstead Road at around 1pm today. A man was found stabbed and taken to hospital; his condition remains unknown.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Growing Concern Over Knife Crime

This wave of violence has reignited calls for increased police presence and stronger action to address knife crime across London.
