A major fire broke out on a houseboat in Hampton during the early hours of this morning, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade (LFB).

The Incident
The fire erupted at approximately 3:18 am, with Control Officers at the LFB receiving the first of eight emergency calls. The blaze engulfed half of a leisure boat moored along the river following reports of an explosion.

Emergency Response
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were dispatched to the scene from nearby fire stations, including Twickenham, Kingston, Surbiton, and others along with neighbours brigade Surrey Fire and Rescue service.

Crews worked swiftly to bring the fire under control, successfully extinguishing the flames by 4:28 am.

Extent of the Damage
Significant damage was reported to the houseboat, with half of the vessel severely affected by the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this stage but has yet to be confirmed offfically.

Cause Under Investigation
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the early morning, ensuring the area was safe and conducting an initial assessment to determine the origin of the fire.

Community Impact
Residents and boat owners in the vicinity were advised to avoid the area while firefighting efforts were ongoing. Witnesses described seeing thick smoke rising from the boat and emergency vehicles lining the riverbank.
